DID I JUST DESCRIBE YOU? IF SO, I HAVE GOOD NEWS FOR YOU TODAY!
God is callng you to a personal relationship with Hm. Today is your day! Jesus declares in Luke 19:10 that He came for the sick that need a physician, for he said that the well does not need a physician, only the sick. I too, at one time in my life was very sick from sin. Jesus found me and I am no longer the same! I am saved by the blood of Jesus Christ and am set free from the penalty of sin and death! You can be too!
Everyone of us fit into one of two catagories on today. Either we were in bondage to sin and is now free in Christ Jesus or we are still bound by the bondage of sin and it’s penalty.
In our text, Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem to manifest in the natural what He claim in the heavenly through this scripture text on today. He said He came to seek and save the lost. He is gonna show us just that through our text on today. How was He gonna do that?
With love and kindess have I drawn thee declares the Lord.
On His way to Calvary to die for the sins of the world, Jesus entered Jericho, passing through into Capernaum of Galilee. Jesus knew that Zacchaeus was there and needed to be saved, therefore, He had to go through there to save that which was lost, Zacchaeus.
As Jesus was passing by, there was a tax collector by the name of Zacchaeus. He had heard that Jesus was passing through Jericho and wanted to see Him. Perhaps he heard how Jesus had even called a tax collector to be one of His disciples. Zacchaeus mixed in with the large crowd of people who also wanted to see Jesus. And, because he was too short to look over the crowd, he climbed a sycamore-fig tree in order to see Jesus because he Was too short to look over the crowd.
As Jesus passed by the tree, He looked up and spoke to Zacchaeus. Jesus knew Zacchaeus was there and He knew his name. Jesus said,
(Lk 19:5) Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today. If you notice in that text, Jesus did not make a statement, “I would like to stay at your house today.” Jesus did not make a request, “May I stay at your house today?” Rather, He made a demand, “I must stay at your house today.” “Must” – the Greek word used here signifies divine action, divine purpose, divine mission. “I must stay at your house today.”
In stating that He “MUST” stay at Zacchaeus house Jesus saw His visit to Zacchaeus house as one of much needed urgency. Zacchaeous was lost and needed a Savior. Since that was Jesus purpose of coming, He wanted to show the onlookers that it is people like Zacchaeus is why He came to earth. The stop at Zacchaeus was a part of Jesus’ divine mssion!
Jesus stoping at your house on today via this blog is a part of His divine mission too! ARE YOU LOST? JESUS SAVES!
Tax collector were hated and despised by the people of that day. Of course, with their attitude towards tax collectors in general and Zacchaeus in particular, the crowd of people did not like what Jesus was doing here and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner” (vs 7).
Jesus didn’t back down in the face of their complaints. Zacchaeus was a lost sheep of Israel. Jesus did not want to leave him in his lost state. He came to Jericho to seek and to save Zacchaeus. He wouldn’t leave until that mission was accomplished.
In verse 10 Jesus states His mission, a mission He was engaged in at that very moment with Zacchaeus was why he came. Luke 19:10 The Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.
That’s why Jesus came to earth as a man; that’s why Jesus went to Jerusalem on His way to Calvary to be the guest of a sinner (Zacchaeus), that is why that day Jesus told Zacchaeus “I MUST” stay at your house-There was an urgency in getting Zacchaeus saved. His mission was to seek and to save what was lost. Zacchaeus was lost and Jesus knew it!!
There is an urgency today in getting the lost saved TODAY! What are you doing about it? What length are you willing to go to in order to see this done as a Christian? IS THERE ANY LOST AMONG YOU? In our homes, workplaces, schools, churches, etc. We can see them among us! Many of them, if we would be honest for a moment, are some of our famly members! I do not know about you, but I have plenty of them who are still lost!
Remember the parable of the lost coin- there was a woman who has lost a valuable coin. It is one of only ten that she has. She lights a lamp and sweeps day and night until she finds it. When it is found, she invites her friends over to celebrate with her.
The lost sheep- What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? 5And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. 7-I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
The lost son- The lost son was truly lost, being dead in his sins. Having asked his father for his inheritance, he reckoned his father as already being dead. And his father reckoned him as being dead to him at that point as well. The lost son represents the lost sheep of Israel who, while being sons of Abraham according to the flesh, were not sons according to the spirit. For he did not behave in accordance with the spirit of his father. When the son returned, His father threw his arms around him and kissed him. But the son quickly said, “Father, I have sinned against God and against you. I don’t deserve to be called your son.” The son wanted to continue but the father said to one of his servants, “Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the biggest calf and kill it. Let’s have a party and celebrate because my son was lost and is found!”
Heaven rejoices over one sinner!!! Jesus came to find the lost and save them!!! YOU SHOULD SHOUT RIGHT THERE!!!!!!!!!!WHY? Because you and I were once one of them.
All these are parables depicts something being lost. The owners of these lost things and person is a picture of God the Father and the lost is a picture of you and I prior to salvation and every sinner that ever lived and will live that is not saved.
These parable showed not only the urgency in finding what was lost, but the need to seek them out. For the bible declares in
Luke 15:10- – “In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
The seeking and saving grace of God in Christ Jesus was responsible for the dramatic change in Zacchaeus’ life. That seeking and saving grace of God changed Zacchaeus’ status from a lost sheep of Israel to a true son of Abraham.
Do you realize that that same seeking and saving grace of God is here among us today? Jesus saving grace and power is here right now among. Romans 10:17 delcares that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. What are you hearing? If it’s the Gospel-You can be saved on today!
Zacchaeus, A person whom the rabbis said could not be saved, a person whom the rabbis said was beyond salvation, a person whom the rabbis forever dismissed as a lost sheep of Israel, was converted because of the saving grace of God in and through Christ Jesus.
What Christ did for Zacchaeus He can still do for us today.
Is Christ Jesus looking for you? If you have not accepted Him as your Lord and Savior, I have no doubt that He is definitely looking for you! Is Christ Jesus looking for you? Don’t try to hide from Him. Don’t resist Him. Let His Spirit draw you to Him on today.
The enemy may have you thinking on today that you are beyond salvation, but the devil is a liar! You may have been lead to believe that “no one can save you; you are too bad or wicked; you are beyond saving; God wants nothing to do with you.”
Let me tell you this , my brothers and sisters, that no one is beyond saving. If God could save Zacchaeus He can save you as well. The Rabbis thought Zacchaeus was beyond redemption, but he wasn’t. You may think you or a loved one are beyond the reach of God’s love, but you aren’t. Don’t forget the marvelous news of the Gospel’s power to save and deliver on today!
We are reminded in Luke 19:10 -For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.” No sinner is so lost that God can’t find him. No sin is so big that God can’t forgive and save. No guilt is so large that God can’t remove it.
No one, absolutely no one, is beyond the seeking and saving grace of God in Christ Jesus.
Don’t forget, let me remind you again, of the Gospel message: “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.”
ARE YOU LOST? JESUS SAVES!!!
GOD BLESS AND DO TELL THE LORD THANK YOU!
Your sister in Christ.
