Psalm 68:8b – “Rebellion Against God Causes You to Dwell In A Dry Land!”

Psalm 69:6b – He (God) leads the prisoners out to prosperity; but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

Rebellion – What does rebellion mean? Refusal to come under the authority of someone who is above you; open resistance. In Biblical terms, it almost always refers to man’s rebellion against God.

God HATES rebellion!

Many people rebelled in the Bible, and paid a great price for doing so. I will name a few.

Moses rebelled and was not allowed to enter into the land of promise.

Jonah was swallowed by a great big fish because of rebellion!

Where has rebellion against God or His authority landed you on this morning?

Are you rebelling against God today? If you are, I know without a doubt that you have found yourself in a dry place because of it. God’s Word declares it.

Here are a few scriptures in the bible concerning what God says about rebellion.

Isaiah 63:10 – But they rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit; therefore He turned to become their enemy and Himself fought against them.(

1 Samuel 12:14-15 – If you fear the LORD and serve and obey him and do not rebel against his commands, and if both you and the king who reigns over you follow the LORD your God—good! 15 But if you do not obey the LORD, and if you rebel against his commands, his hand will be against you, as it was against your ancestors.

And in our text today – Psalm 68:6 – The rebellious dwell in a dry land.

When we make a decision to rebel against leadership, especially God’s leadership and authority, we set ourselves up for failure. God honors those who honor Him and His authority.

In our text in Psalm 68:6 God gives us the consequences of being rebellious. It says, “the rebellious dwell in a dry land.” To dwell in a “dry land” is to live a life that is marked by spiritual and natural “drought.” One who is dead to the “Spirit” of God that brings life!

The whole message of the Gospel, is that God wants to redeem and restore relationship with fallen man through the shed blood of His Son Jesus Christ. Without God, we are nothing! God is the True Vine and if we are in Him, We are the branches! Apart from Him, we dwell in a dry land. In other words, WE DIE SPIRITUALLY!!! A branch can not live apart from the trunk of the tree on it’s own, it eventually dies!

Regardless of all the riches you may have accumulated for yourself in this life, none of it is enough to fill your heart with the peace of knowing that you are really not alone!

The rebellious dwell in a dry land. What a scary and horrible place to find yourself in.

We will never have rest or peace as long as we are comfortable in our sins and refuse to turn from them through rebellion against God.

Hopefully, we will receive the help of the Holy Spirit’s conviction of our rebellion and turn back to God and His authority in our lives.

As Christians, we must keep the eternal perspective in view! Everything here on earth is temporary.

Rebellion is a open door for the enemy to wreck havoc in your life. God’s Word is clear that rebellion is a great way to find yourself in a dry land spiritually.

If you have been rebellious, STOP! Forsake your rebellion and turn to the Lord. Repent of your ways so that ye may find grace and mercy in time of need.

Which will you choose on today? To rebel or to obey?

The bible declares that obedience is better than sacrifice.

1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

About Minister Aiken

I am a Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I received my call to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ on Sunday, February 16, 2003 and I was licensed as a Minister on Sunday, December 30, 2007. I am an Associate Minister, Sunday School Teacher for Adult # 1 Class, Instructor for New Members Class, Youth Church Teacher, Senior Missionary, and Blogger. I have worked in the medical field for 31 years. I am the wife of one husband whom I have been married to for the last 27 years. Out of this union came one son. I have always been an advocate of God's Word even prior to salvation. Now that I am saved, I have taken it to another level with the help of the Holy Spirit. I am what others call "Radicle for Christ!" Yes, I LOVE JESUS! I started sending out daily devotional messages over 12 years ago via email. In March of 2011 the Lord told me that it was time for the daily devotionals to be taken to the world wide web. I did not understand how nor belive that God could use me for such a task as this, but thanks be to God who knows all things. I obeyed God and the rest was history. This ministry has truly been a blessing to the heart and soul of many that are saved and unsaved. Many lives have been changed, energized, transformed, restored, refreshed, and clansed by the Power of the Holy Spirit through God's spoken words from His Bible. Romans 10:14-15 - How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15-And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" Truly, this Ministry is a blessing from God to mankind everywhere. No great works has any man done that he or she should boast! "TELL THE LORD THANK YOU" is indeed the Lord's will for you and I. God truly is an "AWESOME WONDER!" I love Him!! He is my Lord and Savior!!! Romans 8:31- If God be for you, who could be against you? It was Christ who died for us. 1 Thessalonian 5;18-Give thanks in all things for this is the Lord will concerning you and I in Christ Jesus. Matthew 6:33-But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.

  1. Peter John says:

Praise the Lord, Lord is faithful and He will lead me in path of obedience.

  2. Christine,

If you have confessed your sins before God, you are forgiven according to the Word of God. Accept your forgivness and walk in the light of the Gospel truth for your life. Do not look back, keep moving forward.
Get into the Word of God because it will be the power that will help sustain you during the time of testing and temptation.

When we confess our sins before God and turn away from them with a repentant heart, God hears and answers our prayers. Here are a couple of scriptures to meditate on.

1John 1:9 – 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Romans 8:1 -Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,

Luke 15:10 – In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

I am proud of you, but God is more proud of you. There is rejoicing in heaven concerning you my sister.

    God bless!

  3. GEOFFREY says:

    Do i stil av hope
..i rebel and by so fill with hopelessness. rebellion is great everyday i think of final judgement deceived iaccept im sinful
    help b4 my end comes

    • REPENT= A change of mind about sin and about God, which results in turning from sin to God.

As long as you have breath in your body, you have hope! Your hope must be in Christ Jesus!

Acts 3:19 – Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.

1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Ezekiel 18:30-32 – 30 Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord God. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.
31 Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel? 32 For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord God: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.

Ezekiel 33:11 – 11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

Mark 1:15 – 15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

Luke 5:32 – I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Luke 15:7- I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

Acts 3:19 – Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.

Psalm 103:12 – He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.

If you have truly repented and turned away from sin here is what God is saying to you. Romans 8:1 – There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

cry out to God from the pureness of your heart. Confess your sins to Him, turn away from them and turn to God. God will remember your sins no more.

Romans 10:9 – That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

To stay strong, you must get to a place where bible study is being taught and make it your business to find personal time daily in the Word so that you may stay strong. The temptations of sin is easy to fall back into if you do not fill the void with the Word of God and prayer once you have turned away from it.

I look to hear a praise report in the future!

      God bless!

Power council may God bless you

  5. Bongni Nomkhonwana says:

If u wnt to ask forgiveness in to God u mst firstly forgive yo self.

    • Bongni,

Truly our God is faithful to forgive. Yes, the hardest part is to forgive ourselves.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

God bless and thanks for stopping by!
