John 15:13 – Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
Looking for love? Look no more because you have found Him. His name is Jesus!
In our text, Jesus defines love as a sacrificial actions rather than words or emotions. He said, “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.”
There are 4 different kinds of love.
1. Eros includes passion or infatuation as well as sexual or romantic love.
2. Storge refers to the natural affection between a parent and child.
3. Phileo refers to the intimacy that good friends share.
4. Agape is sacrificial love. It is unconditional. Agape is the love that was on display at Calvary. Jesus lived out agape love.
L – Love unconditional
O – omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient God.
V – Victory over sin once and for all on display at Calvary.
E – Everlasting Life with God.
Many people are looking for love in all the wrong places. Ever since the fall of man, our world has been looking for love in all the wrong places. Look no more! Today you have found Him. His name is “Jesus”! He will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory.
The woman who went to the well was looking for love and she found the greatest lover ever known to mankind, awaiting her arrival at the well. There sat Jesus upon her arrival at the well! He told her everything about her life. He knew her, but most of all, He loved her.
The woman with the alabaster box was looking for love and she found Him at the home of Simon the leper. Finding true love caused her to enter into true worship in the presence of her enemies.
The woman with the issue of blood was looking for love and she found Him as she crawled on her knees through a crowded street.
Where have you been looking for love? Was it in the bar, clubs, hotels, motels, street corners, dark alleys, sexual relations outside of marriage, the alcohol bottle, drugs, extra marital affairs, pornography, etc.? Where have you been looking for love? Look no more! Jesus loves you.
For He said in John 15:13 – Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” He loved you enough to die for you. That’s love!
God loves us not because we are lovable, but because He is love.
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
There can be no greater love demonstrated than for God to give up his own Son, in hopes that all who believed in him may have the ultimate gift of eternal life in God’s kingdom.
Finding true “Love” makes us do things that we would not normally do, like loving our enemies, loving those that spitefully use us and persecute us, pray for them that wrong us, bless those that curse us and on and on. That is what the love of Christ does for us. It makes us appear to look, act and think crazy to those who do not know his Love. Why? They are looking through the lense of the world and we are looking through the lense of “Love” found in God’s Word.
Romans 5:5-8 “…the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Jesus is the manifestation of God’s love. He is the way to be healed. Jesus can heal our heart and restore our love, even for those friends and family members who have hurt or wronged us.
Jesus can give us back everything the devil has stolen. The biggest lie that the devil will tell you is that you sufferes alone. This is not true! No matter where you were, no matter what happened to you. No matter how difficult things were. No matter how painful or lonely it was. No matter how great the abuse, the abandonment, the fear, or the violence was. No matter…… YOU ARE/WERE NOT ALONE! Jesus is and was with you! He stood with you, He suffered with you! He was touched with the feeling of your difficulties.
Jesus is there for you and me at every place where we hurt. He saw it, He felt it and He cried for His creation, but the story does not end there. Out of Love, He took our hurts and pains to the cross so that we may be healed.
Allow Jesus to restore your love, your joy, your peace and everything that the enemy has stolen from you. Look no more for love! Jesus is the greatest lover you will ever meet!
There is a song by Vicki Winans that goes like this:
What kind of Man is this who died for me and set me free?
What kind of Man is this who would leave His leave His heavenly home,
then come down to give His life as a sacrifice, just to save a wretch like you and me?
They beat my Jesus, they beat Him all night long,
until He saw every little bone. And when He took His very last breath, He hung His head and died for you and I; oh what love the Man has for me, that He would give His life.
Chorus:
Oh what love He has for me, that He would give His life. Oh what love He has for me, that He would give His life; life, His life.
Vamp:
Jesus went to Calvary, to save a wretch like you and me; that’s love, that’s love. They hung Him high, they stretched Him wide,
He hung His head, for me He died; that’s love, that’s love
That’s not how the story ends, three days later, He rose again;
that’s love, that’s love.
Looking for Love in all the wrong places? Look no more! Jesus is He!
Jesus loves you. He is calling you to enter into his loving arms on today! He is waiting to feel you presence.
Looking for love? Look no more! Jesus is standing with loving arms wide open. He awaits your arrival because he wants you to be able to not only experience His love, but He also want you to share your greatest love story of His love for you with others!
John 15:13 – Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
God bless and do remember to tell the Lord thank you for “Love”!
I love you all with the love of Christ.
Debra
Wonderful post. I have had these thoughts on my mind and heart in the last couple of days. You said it all so well. Blessings to you today!
Amen!
Confirmation to the Word!
We know that this was indeed God! The spirit is working in and thru us as believes to be able to discern, understand and know things, even if we are not physically near.
God bless you my sister.
I love ya.
Debra
Amen! Love and hugs to you today.
Your sister in Christ,
April
I can see the Holy Spirit at work as He is laying on everyone’s hearts similar messages here. A brother in Christ posted a similar article…wow! I had said on his, and I will say the same thing here, that I have heard several ministers, one in particular comes to mind, mention that we were all born with the knowledge of God sewn into us. This is why some people reach for drugs, sex, any addiction. They are misguided from who the real God they’re seeking is, and so they reach out for Satan’s couterfeits.
It is amazing that God has left His signature in each and every one of us; not one person that has ever lived, lives, or who will live has the same DNA. We are each given our personal mark by our Lord uncomparable to anyone else’s. Furthermore, I watched a Louie Giglio video on Laminin; it is a substance in our blood that holds us together..it’s the glue that holds us together, rather. Under a microscope, it is in the shape of a cross…isn’t that amazing? God’s Word says, Colossians 1:17, “He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”
As I said on the other website, I hope this is okay. If not, you’re welcome to delete it and I won’t be offended in the slightest. The other person liked it, and I hope you will to. It is a short clip of Louie Giglio talking about this very thing I’ve mentioned, and it shows a pic of Laminin. You really have to watch the whole thing…and I think it will bless you much. God bless you Sister Deb.. This is a very powerful, true, and moving post you’ve made here. I also believe the ruling spirit over the United States is addiction; and what you’ve written here is the reason why.
Thank you Lynn.
I will most definitely look at this tonight when I get home from church.
Thanks you too for your encouraging and uplfting words noted here.
May God forever bless and keep you in the power of His love.
