Psalm 27:14- Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
What are you waiting on God to do? Are you waiting with hope and expectation? Are you trusting and believing that at God’s appointed time, He will deliver what He promised?
Waiting is a “LOT” that has been given to every human.
In this text, we are commanded to wait on the Lord and in our wait on Him, be of good courage and He SHALL strengthen our heart.
To wait upon the Lord means to put your trust in the Lord. To patiently wait on Him with expectation.
Waiting is hard! It is hard because we are not in control, we are not calling the shots, we do not know what is going on, we do not know the when’s, how long or how much more waiting we have to do. I must admit, waiting is not easy, but it is necessary.
God’s waiting room is a very uncomfortable place of anxiety and fear at times for us humans who always want to be in control. God’s waiting room is a place of delay. Sometimes the delay can be days, weeks, months or years, but, we must remember that God is never late.
If we could be honest for a moment, some of God’s greatest work in us and some of our greatest blessings did not happen overnight, but over an extended period of time in some of the most difficult and darkest places in our lives.
It is in the valley experiences of life is where we receive the treasures of life. It is in the valley of waiting on God is where we reflect and receive correction. It is also in the valley of life where we gain strength, knowledge, understanding, trust, power and the wisdom of God.
Perhaps you may have convinced yourself that you are self sufficient and say, “why should I wait on God, I can do this myself? Well, God is the only supplier for souls that are in poverty. Nothing else can satisfy or heal our sin sick souls, but God, therefore we MUST wait on Him.
In our wait on God, we must know without a doubt that God is in control of the timing and the answer to everything that we wait on Him for. We must realize that God has a specific purpose for why He is allowing us to wait.
When we have waited on the Lord, we come out with a new view of who God is and about our own lives. Our vision changed, our circumstances changed, our lives are changed, but our God remains the same!
When we have exited the valley of wait, we have a new view of God. High and lifted up!
In the midst of a valley of distress, in the death of his earthly king, Isaiah had gained new sight. Prior to the King’s death, he was focused on a earthly king, but when Uzziah died, He saw the real king. JESUS!
It took the death of an earthly king for Isaiah to get a view of the True and Living King. Here is his description of what he saw in the valley of despair. Isaih 6:1 – In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple.
The difficulties of an unexpected death gave Isaiah a new view as to who is God! Not an earthly king, but an Everlasting King. One that sits high and lifted up in heaven on the right hand of God the Father.
The same applies to us! It is in the valley of waiting on God, in the midst of pain and suffering, in the midst of not being in control is where we truly desire a need for God. True worship takes place in the valley of life, not on the mountain top!
God promises us on this morning that if we be of good courage and wait on Him, He shall strengthen our hearts. If we do not get weary in our wait on God, we will reap the harvest when our waiting period is over.
Do you want to receive everything that God has for you? Well, you must wait on Him and be of good courage and He will strengthen your heart.
Remember, Faith is believing that God is at work even when we can’t see His hand in our waiting on Him.
Waiting on God is the road from the promise to the praise!!!
A few witnesses: The children of Israel in the wilderness for 40 years, Joseph in the pit and in prison, Job, Hezekiah, Daniel, 3 Hebrew boys, Jonah, Jesus in the grave 3 days. VICTORY AFTER THE WAIT!!
God bless and do tell the Lord thank you for giving you the faith and patience to wait on Him.
I love you all with the love of Christ.
WAIT ON THE LORD AND BE OF GOOD COURAGE; HE SHALL STRENGTHEN THINE HEART.
