Psalm 73:28 – “But it is good for me to draw near to God.”
Because of the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, it is not in our nature to want to be nearer to God. Sin had separated us from that desire or need to be in fellowship with God our Father.
Today, many have shut God out of their hearts and their company. He is never mentioned of them. They have removed themselves far from Him. They have said in their hearts, “let Him be far from me.”
We are living in perilous times. The days are evil! Jesus warned of such an hour. There are troubles on all sides and things are going to just get worse. I must repeat this: IF THERE EVER WAS A TIME TO DRAW NEARER TO GOD, THE TIME IS NOW!!!!!!
Imagine in your mind for a moment, resting in the arms of Jesus, our Comforter, our Father. Imagine the peace, joy and love you feel just in that thought as you close your eyes and meditate on Him.
In our text, the psalmist says it is good for (me). That is personal. What is good for me? (to draw near to God). There is a part I play in being in God’s presence. I have to act. I have to move from sin to Salvation. Then, I am able to draw near to God with a clean heart. God must become my goal in life. It must be my desire to draw nearer to Him. In doing this, it is not only good for me, but it pleases God.
As believers in Christ, we can boldly approach the throne of Grace where we will find grace and mercy in the time of need. We can drawer nearer to God there. It is through our Mediator, Jesus the Christ. He is our High Priest, the Veil who stand between us and divine justice. The bible declares that when Jesus died on the cross, the curtain in the temple was torn in 2. We now have direct access to the presence of a Holy God through Christ, our Savior.
When we come to church we should come for the purpose of worshiping God and hearing what He has to say to us from His Word. This is an area where God really works, when we come to worship Him — whether it be in church, at home, or wherever we may be, we can draw near to Him.
Is it your desire to draw nearer to God on today? I can only hope and pray so. None of us know when our clock of life will stop.
I want to leave you with this old familiar hymn that my parents and the saints of old used to sing from the pureness of their hearts. I hope this is your prayer and song on today also.
I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice, And it told Thy love to me; But I long to rise in the arms of faith, And be closer drawn to Thee. Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, To the cross where Thou hast died; Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord; To Thy precious, bleeding side.Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord, By the pow’r of grace divine; Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope.
And my will be lost in Thine. O the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend, When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God, I commune as friend with friend! There are depths of love that I yet may know; Ere Thee face to face I see; There are heights of joy that I yet may reach; Ere I rest in peace with Thee.
OH, THE JOY OF THE LORD’S PRESENCE. I FEEL HIM RIGHT NOW!
As I sing this song out loud, I feel the presence of the Lord comforting, strengthening, loving and recognizing my presence with Him as I draw nearer to him through this song.
Saints, I love Him on today! I Praise Him, I Glorify Him, I Magnify Him for truly He is worthy of all my praises!
GOD BLESS AND TELL THE LORD THANK YOU FOR HIS EVERLASTING PRESENCE!
DRAW ME NEARER LORD TO THEE! IS THIS YOUR PRAYER?
I love you all with the love of Christ.
