Luke 2:1-7 -In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that the entire inhabited earth should be taxed. 2. This taxation was first made when Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 And everyone went to this own city to be taxed.
4 So Joseph also departed from the city of Nazareth in Galilee to the City of David which is called Bethlehem, in Judea, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5 to be taxed with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. 6 So while they were there, the day came for her to give birth. 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in strips of cloth, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
The Old Testament Prophet Micah prophesied that the birth of Jesus would take place in Bethlehem.
Micah 5:2 But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, although you are small among the tribes of Judah, from you will come forth for Me one who will be ruler over Israel. His origins are from of old, from ancient days.
Caesar Augustus made a decree that all should go to their hometown and pay taxes.
Taking the trip to Bethlehem was not an option for Jospeh and Mary for they MUST NEED to go to Bethlehem for a “MIRACLE” is waiting to happen there upon their arrival.
The trip from Nazareth to Bethlehem, I am sure was a tiresome and long journey for a pregnant teenage girl, but it was necessary, for it was a part of God’s plan.
Do you think this just happened at this time because this is when Caesar decided it needed to be done?
THINK NOT! This is God using Caesar to fulfill His timing and His will in the earth.
In other words, Caesar’s decree was divinely orchestrated by God.
God used Caesar to divinely orchestrate the paying of taxes to be held in the hometowns of all people and in doing so, this continued the plan of God in getting Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem for the birth of Jesus as God prophesied through His prophets hundreds of years prior.
God divinely orchestrated every detail of Joseph and Mary life for He had a plan for them and the world through them that would make no kinda sense to them nor to any man or woman.
While in Bethlehem, Mary goes into labor and gives birth to her firstborn Son, Jesus. She wraps Him in strips of cloth (swaddling clothes) and laid Him in a manger .
Every detail of the trip and Jesus birth in Bethlehem had already been planned in heaven by God before the foundation of the world.
The birth of Jesus in an animal stable and “no room” at “Bethlehem Inn” did not catch God by surprise. As a matter of fact, God planned it that way!
This Christmas, God calls us to open up our heart and receive His Gift called “Jesus”. The One who was born to die just for you and I.
If you do not know Jesus for the pardon of your sins, I urge, beg and plea with you on today to open up the doors to your heart and taken down the “no vacancy” sign for Christ wants to come in and live on the inside of you.
Christ was preordained by God to put on flesh and come dwell among us as God in the flesh. John 1:14- The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, the glory as the only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.
God loves us enough to send forth a prophecy of the “Promised Savior” to redeem His people and allow Him to put on flesh and come to earth to do just that.
Will you accept “Jesus” on today? The prophecy concerning His birth was a personal promise being sent from God directly to you and I.
Shame the enemy this Christmas season and give the “gift” of “a testimony to the virgin birth of Jesus” to some of those friends and family members that we KNOW are living in darkness apart from God.
The “Word Of God” concerning the virgin birth in how Jesus came to save the world MUST be the “gift” you give this Christmas . This is the greatest gift we can give. All other gifts will perish!
Once we transition from death to life, we will live either live eternally with God in heaven or separated from Him in hell.
This Christmas, make the story of the virgin conception and Bethlehem birth your personal “GIFT” to all those you claim to love and care about this Christmas.
Jesus is the ”GIFT” that keeps on giving! Will you share Him this Christmas season? I know you will be glad you did.
What will you do this Christmas Season? Share the Gospel story or share in the pleasures of this world? You do have a choice.
JOY TO THE WORLD THE LORD HAS COME, LET EARTH RECEIVE HER KING. LET EVERY HEART PREPARE HIM ROOM.
God bless and I love you all.
